After training as a lawyer in my native Scotland I worked as a copywriter under Paul Arden, John Hegarty and David Abbott and as a creative director in London, Warsaw, Dubai and Brussels. In 2010 I founded peterrussell.be where I am now an editor, curator and commercial anthropologist.
I recently co-edited the Cannes Lions/Taschen publication: Game Changers. The Evolution Of Advertising and my own work features in Paul Arden’s ‘It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want to Be’, Jim Aitchison’s ‘Cutting Edge Advertising’ and Peter York’s ‘Twenty Ads That Shaped the Twentieth Century’.
It has been recognised at Cannes Lions, Eurobest, The Loeries, D&AD, The Clios and the One Show‘. The Independent. It is. Are You’ was recently voted the ninth best known advertising slogan of all time in the UK. Just below ‘Think Different’ and just above ‘Keep Calm And Carry On’.
I live in Ste. Catherine in Brussels where I like to cook and play the piano. Although not always at the same time.
